One person was reported dead in Antipolo City, Rizal during the onslaught of Tropical Cyclone Dodong, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.
According to the NDRRMC, a big rock from the landslide hit the house of the victim on Saturday.
“A part of a hill in the said area collapsed due to heavy rains. A house wherein the reported victim resided was hit by a big stone. Sent the victim immediately to hospital but declared dead on arrival,” the NDRRMC told reporters in a message.
In its 8 a.m. report, NDRRMC said 26,331 people or 9,223 families were affected by Dodong in 92 barangays in Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Western Visayas.
Of the affected population, 849 people or 217 families were staying in 23 evacuation centers.
A total of 50 flooding incidents, three landslides, and a collapsed structure were reported, according to the NDRRMC.
Eleven cities and municipalities experienced power outages, while two areas experienced problems with water supply in Ilocos, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Cordillera.
Two areas in Mimaropa also lost communication lines.
Three domestic flights were canceled and 42 seaports paused operations due to Dodong.
A total of 14 houses were damaged—eight partially and six totally—in Calabarzon and Western Visayas, the NDRRMC said.
Sixty-six classes and one work schedule were suspended.
A total of P381,052 worth of assistance has been given to victims so far, according to the NDRRMC.
