ILOILO CITY – Monsoon rains enhanced by tropical cyclone “Dodong” have affected 21,464 people across Western Visayas region.
According to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC)-6, affected persons were from 56 barangays in Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces and were mostly affected by flooding.
As of 5 p.m. on July 17, Antique had the most number of affected with 9,697.

There were also 8,438 persons affected in Negros Occidental, 3,268 in Iloilo, and 61 in Guimaras.
There are 1,290 persons still in evacuation centers as of posting time.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-6, which oversees the RDRRMC-6, noted the number may be higher as local government units (LGUs) are still submitting reports.
In Iloilo City, classes on all levels were suspended by Mayor Jerry Treñas.
As of 5 p.m., the Iloilo City DRRMO said that 54 barangays are flooded.
