A two-year-old child died after he was strangled by his mother, who tested positive for illegal drugs in Bacoor, Cavite.
According to a “24 Oras” report on Wednesday, the victim’s six-year-old brother witnessed the incident.
The suspect, Rhina Maninang, has been subjected to an inquest and is facing a parricide rap.
This is one of the incidents that the authorities want to prevent.
They said it best to take the drug patients to Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers (TRC) for treatment.
(It is difficult for a drug dependent to recover if he is on his own. He needs help… Drug rehabilitation centers classify patients. If a patient is an indigent, there will be no charge.)
If the patient is not indigent or capable, the payment would be P15,000 per month and P7,500 per month for co-sharing.
However, the lack of facilities is still a huge problem in the country.
The Department of Health (DOH) also admitted the shortage of TRC and staff. Currently, the Philippines only have twenty-eight TRCs. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
