Two minors allegedly pimping their victims through the social media were arrested in an operation in Laguna, according to a “24 Oras” report by John Consulta.
Operatives swooped down on a resort in the province and rescued 12 individuals whom the suspects linked to a foreigner who turned out to be an undercover agent.
Four of the victims were also minors.
The operation was led by the National Bureau of Investigation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
“Merong tumulong sa atin na NGO na foreigner na siyang ginawa nating undercover. Nang ibigay ang marked money, nandun nga, huli natin sila.” NBI CALABARZON Regional Director Jun Carpeso said.
The two suspects are facing charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9208 or the Anti-Human Trafficking Act and RA 7610 or the Exploitation of Minors Act.
“Kawawa ang mga tao at minor na nae-expose sa ganito, mage-endure sila ng trauma,” Carpeso said.
The suspects and victims have been turned over to the DSWD. Further investigation into the alleged trafficking incident is being conducted by the NBI.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
