The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Thursday said almost all airports in Northern Luzon have returned to normal operations.
“Except for Laoag airport na inaayos natin, all other airports in Northern Luzon returned to normal operations na po,” CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said in an interview on PTV’s public briefing.
On Wednesday, CAAP said some airports in Northern Luzon sustain minor damage due to Typhoon Egay.
Apolonio said operations of Vigan Airport, Baguio Airport, Lingayen Airport, Rosales Airport, San Fernando Tower Facility, Tuguegarao Airport, Basco Airport, Cauayan Airport, Bagabag Airport , Itbayat Airport, and Palanan Airport were affected by the weather disturbance.
The CAAP official reiterated that all other airports affected by the typhoon are already operational.
Meanwhile, repairs on the damaged ceiling of Laoag airport’s pre-departure area are ongoing.
“If the weather permits by tomorrow operational na,” Apolonio said.
Egay, on Thursday, exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but rains will continue to persist in parts of the country as Signal No. 2 remains hoisted in eight areas.
Several domestic flights were also canceled due to inclement weather. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
