Up to neck-deep floods were still observed on Monday in some areas in Luzon due to the rains brought by tropical cyclones Egay and Falcon as well as the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

Pangasinan

In Pangasinan, floods were still reported in 10 barangays in Calasiao as the Marusay River rose to a critical level. Neck-deep floods were reported in some areas. Rescue operations also have been launched, according to information gathered by GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon and reported on Unang Balita.

Floods were still seen in Dagupan City and adjacent areas.

Zambales

In Olongapo City, gutter-deep flood was monitored in front of a public market and knee-deep flood in Barangay Sta. Rita. Some people were stranded due to the floods, according to a report by Vonne Aquino on Unang Balita.

Some roads in Barangay San Miguel in San Antonio, Zambales were submerged in floods and affected residents in the area were evacuated from their homes.

Pampanga

Gutter-deep flood was also reported in Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Lubao, Pampanga.

Bataan

The province of Bataan was placed under a state of calamity as its five towns were flooded including Hermosa with 10 barangays that are still affected. Residents had to use boats to move around the streets.

Cagayan

In Baggao, Cagayan, at least two families were evacuated due to a landslide in Barangay Bitag Grande.

Cordillera

In Cordillera, some roads were closed due to landslide incidents. In Calanasan, Apayao, the Poblacion-Namaltugan Road became impassable due to a landslide. Authorities conducted a clearing and repair operation in the area, according to a separate Unang Balita report.

Also, a part of the Sagada road in Mountain Province was closed due to a landslide.

Bulacan

Meanwhile in Guiguinto, Bulacan, knee-deep flood was observed along MacArthur Highway where some motorists were stranded. In Barangay Panginay, an ankle-deep flood was also reported, based on the report of Nico Waje on Unang Balita. Barangay officials said the area has been submerged for five days already.

Interviewed on Unang Balita, Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando said the local government will declare a state of calamity in the province due to the effects of the inclement weather.

Over 18,000 people or 5,000 families were affected, he said.

Fernando said the release of water from Bustos Dam was one of the factors that contributed to the flooding in the province. Water was released from the usual 300 cubic meters per second to to 737 cubic meters per second.

He said one of the gates also has a problem that needs to be fixed.

Valenzuela City

Meanwhile, some roads in Valenzuela City were still flooded on Monday including a part of the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Dalandanan where some employees had to cross the floods to go to work, James Agustin reported on Unang Balita. Floods also affected the operation of some establishments in the area including a gasoline station.

Some vehicles broke down in the middle of the flood.

PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) which is being enhanced by Typhoon Falcon will bring occasional to monsoon rains over the western portion of Luzon in the next three days. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA Integrated News
