King Taeyeon is back!
Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon just had her second solo concert in the Philippines, and despite the rains and gloomy weather, the cheers from her Filipino SONEs were blazing hot!
Still can’t get over her timeless performance? Don’t worry! We got you covered as we walk you through everything that happened on the event dubbed as “The Odd of Love.”
As a member of one of the most popular and successful K-pop groups of all time, it’s not a surprise that Taeyeon has had a solid fanbase in the Philippines since her debut in 2007, and the pink and purple sea of lights at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday was a testament to that.
Presented by DNM Entertainment, the show spanned nearly three hours with Taeyeon performing 26 songs from her wide range of discography. Fans are not only seated for her timeless songs and vocal prowess but also for her youthful visuals and charisma that unraveled her different sides.
As soon as you enter the venue, you can already feel the high energy of FILO SONEs as they chant “Kim Taeyeon! Kim Taeyeon!” every time Taeyeon appears on the LED screen. When it was time for her grand entrance, the chants become louder and you could no longer hear her singing.
Taeyeon opened her show with her song, “INVU” and the crowd can’t help but sing along with the songstress. Here’s the catch: she did not only perform with live vocals but with a live band behind her as well.
Showing her sultry side, Taeyeon performed her songs “Siren,” “Cold as Hell,” “Heart,” and “Toddler” clad in a red sparkling outfit accompanied by her female backup dancers.
When it was time for her much-awaited ment, the crowd became more hyped as Taeyeon moved to the extended stage which gave the fans a better and much closer view of her.
“It’s so good to be back in Manila, and I’m very thankful that you are all welcoming,” Taeyeon said during her opening ment.
Prior to her second solo concert in the Philippines, Taeyeon went to the country for a joint concert with fellow K-pop artists, The Boyz and labelmate AESPA.
Taeyeon also praised the Manila crowd and the fans who went the extra mile for her, because as the rumor goes, Filo K-pop stans are so extra every time their ult has a concert!
“It’s my first time to see SONEs enjoying my concert so much. You all have this vibe of enjoying my concert. That’s good,” she said.
A fan dressed as a yellow banana, which Taeyeon called “Kim Banana,” caught her attention. Another fan who is dressed as a pink dinosaur earned a thumbs-up from her.
Amidst the sea of pink and purple, a beaming yellowish-white light illuminated the crowd that caught Taeyeon’s attention. It was none other but a fan waving a ring light, instead of a fanlight which emits Taeyon’s official colors. So extra!
After showing her sultry side, Taeyeon exuded cuteness with her performance of “Weekend,” “No Love Again,” “You Better Not,” “Stress,” “Playlist” and “What Do I Call You,” donning a Y2K outfit.
While performing, “Stress,” fans did the second fan project where they waved their purple cloth in the air while singing-along with the song.
Taeyeon continued to serve not just looks but also strong vocal abilities with her hit songs, “Fine,” “I,” and “Four Seasons.”
And just when everyone thought that the concert was over, Taeyeon came back onstage for her encore and made the most of her remaining time with her beloved fans.
In return, Filipino SONEs returned their love for their kid leader as they raised the purple hand banner, with “Our love for YOU is TIMELESS, it won’t change and will last FOREVER” written in Korean which Taeyeon also raised during the photo opp.
Before bidding her last goodbye, Taeyeon promised to be back again in the Philippines as soon as possible and SONEs are surely looking forward to that!
“The Odd of Love” marked Taeyeon’s fifth visit in the Philippines. She first went to the country in 2013 with her group Girls’ Generation for the “Dream K-pop Fantasy Concert (DKFC).”
Two years later, she went back with her group again to perform for the “Best of Best Concert.” She held her first solo concert at the New Front Theater in 2018 and performed for the “K-verse in Manila” last April.
In 2015, Taeyeon debuted as solo artist with her song, “I.”
