A Filipina architect is counted among the individuals behind the design of “Merdeka 118,” the second tallest skyscraper in the world!
According to Ivan Mayrina’s report on “24 Oras,” Monday, 40-year-old architect Mitchelle Ignacio flew to Malaysia in 2014 and is now making a name for herself.
“Masasabi kong almost half ng structure, nandun yung involvement ko,” Mitchelle said.
Mitchelle is the current president of the United Architects of the Philippines – Kuala Lumpur Chapter.
Her fellow member, architect Manny Canlas, was also one of those who designed the Petronas Towers.
“Hard work, nandun yung dedication, tsaka resilience, at higit sa lahat, madiskarte. Yan ang Pinoy!” she proudly said. “Pag may pinagawa sa ‘yo, hindi mo man sya alam, aalamin mo, at gagawan mo ng solusyon. So ‘yun ‘yung hindi matatawaran na qualities nating mga Pinoy.”
During President Bongbong Marcos’ state visit to Malaysia, the Petronas Towers were lit up in the colors of the Philippine flag, another proud moment for Mitchelle. — Carby Basina/BAP, GMA Integrated News
