A total of 4,000 residents of Abra received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation after the onslaught of Typhoon Egay.
According to a report on “24 Oras,” Monday, among the beneficiaries is Luz Baga, who lost her family home to the floods.
She and her family have been living there for 20 years, but now the house has been damaged beyond repair.
“Muntik na nga po kami malunod lahat. Akala ko po talaga mamamatay na kami,” Luz said. “Tumawag po kami ng magre-rescue, wala namang makakaya kasi malalaki nga ‘yung alon tapos malalakas ‘yung daloy ng tubig. ‘Yung hangin malakas din.”
“Parang gusto ko ng sumigaw, kasi nakikita mo ‘yung bahay mo unti-unti ng ginigiba, ‘yung bubong namin nilipad na,” she added.
Meanwhile, Aida Belarmino, a farmer, lost her harvest when soil and rocks washed over her rice field.
“Nalulungkot po ako kasi ‘yung mga kagaya kong farmers, wala na naman po silang kikitain, wala na naman po kaming kakainin,” she said.
To help the residents, the GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed relief goods and hygiene kits.
