COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A policeman and a suspect were killed in a shootout in an anti-narcotics operation in Indanan, Sulu on Tuesday.
S/Sgt. Julmakar Paddam Alih died while being treated at the Sulu Provincial Hospital in Jolo, Maj. Edwin Sapa, Indanan police chief, told reporters on Messenger.
Suspected drug dealer Jundol Abdurahman died at the scene.
Sapa said Alih was with a team that conducted a drug bust in Barangay Katian. Abdurahman and his companions drew their guns when they sensed they had transacted with undercover agents.
Abdurahman’s alleged cohorts Jibal Sabtal, Itik Maldisa, Mansul Alih and Binang Alano surrendered.
In Quezon, police said shabu valued at P8.2 million was recovered in Barangay Ibabang Dupay in Lucena City from Alibsar Macasari, a native of Marawi. – Michelle Zoleta
