MANILA, Philippines — Former Manila vice mayor Danilo Bautista Lacuña passed away at the age of 86, his daughter, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan announced yesterday.
In a Facebook post, the mayor – the eldest among Danilo’s five children – said her father died yesterday morning “surrounded by his loved ones” but did not disclose further details on the cause of his death.
Paying tribute to the late former vice mayor, Honey described her father as “a man of great service and compassion.”
“Danny touched many, creating a life that spans further than just his years and into the hearts of us all where he will remain forever,” Honey wrote.
Lacuna served as the capital’s councilor from 1968 to 1975 and as vice mayor from 1970 to 1971, 1988 to 1992 and 1998 to 2007.
Lacuna also founded the local political party Asenso Manileño, the political party of his daughter and former mayor Isko Moreno.
Details regarding the funeral are yet to be announced.
Lacuna is survived by his wife Melanie and his five children Honey, Lei, Dennis, Liza and Philip.
