Manulife Philippines, subsidiary of Manulife Canada, said it will put more money on employee development using technology to hone the expertise and skills of its workforce.
“Manulife continues to invest in employee development by leveraging its online learning platform Pursuit, which empowers employees to discover and develop business, technology-related, and creative knowledge and skills through expert-led online courses,” the company said in a statement Monday, Sept. 18.
Worldwide, the Canada-based Manulife Financial Corp. has over 40,000 employees and 116,000 agents.
Manulife Philippines was awarded recently by two international award-giving bodies, the HR Asia and the Insurance Business Asia.
The company was named Best Companies to Work for in Asia (The Philippines Chapter) by HR Asia “with special citations for Manulife’s exemplary diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) efforts”.
Insurance Business Asia, meanwhile, gave it the Top Insurance Employers award for this year.
HR Asia is a global magazine for human resource experts while Insurance Business Asia is also a global media company.
Manulife said Insurance Business Asia conducted an internal survey on the insurer’s “employee benefits, incentives, development, and culture, which found that Manulife had an 80% or greater satisfaction rating from its employees.”

As part of employee development, Manulife currently runs programs such as Fuel Up Fridays for the advancement of their personal and professional growth, as well as their health and well-being, said the company.
It has expanded its employee-resource groups as well, such as Global Women’s Alliance and Professionals Reaching Out for Unity and Diversity.
