‘Superestar,’ the Story of a Star Who Never Changed, Premieres July 18 on Netflix

Netflix has revealed the premiere date and the first images of Superestar, the new series created and directed by Nacho Vigalondo and produced by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, which will premiere globally on July 18.

Superestar is the title of the new fiction series created by Nacho Vigalondo (The Neighbor, Timecrimes, Daniela Forever) that explores the early artistic career of singer Yurena, originally known as Tamara—a cultural phenomenon who became a true pop icon in the early 2000s following the release of the song No cambié and her subsequent album Superestar. It’s a reimagining of “Tamarism” from the hearts of its protagonists and the mind of its creator, Nacho Vigalondo.

The cast includes Ingrid García-Jonsson as Tamara, Secun de la Rosa as Leonardo Dantés, Carlos Areces as Paco Porras, Julián Villagrán as Arlekín, Natalia de Molina as Loly Álvarez, Pepón Nieto as Tony Genil, Rocío Ibáñez as Margarita Seisdedos, and Sofía González as Tamarita.

This miniseries will consist of 6 episodes directed by Nacho Vigalondo and Claudia Costafreda (Cardo) and written by Nacho Vigalondo, María Bastarós, Paco Bezerra, and Claudia Costafreda. It is produced by Suma Content, with Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo (Paquita Salas, La Mesías) serving as producers.
