XG Redefines Their Name: ‘Xtraordinary Girls’ Evolves into ‘Xtraordinary Genes’ Ahead of World Tour & Album Drop
Global hip-hop/R&B group XG announced a bold evolution in the meaning behind their name, shifting from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes”. The announcement lands on Japan’s Coming-of-Age Day, marking a symbolic turning point as all members officially enter their twenties.
Since their debut, XG has pushed boundaries and challenged expectations under the banner of “Xtraordinary Girls”, delivering fearless performances and a genre-blurring sound that has resonated worldwide. The new meaning, “Xtraordinary Genes”, reframes that identity from a label into something innate: the core creativity, individuality, and cultural instinct that define the group at its foundation.
In an official statement, XG shared:
“Thank you, as always, for your warm and continued support.
We are pleased to announce that XG has evolved its group name from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes.”
The word “Genes” represents the power and creativity that reside within our core, as well as our spirit of continuously creating new culture without being bound by conventional norms.
Building upon our origins as “Girls,” and returning to the “Genes” at our core, XG will continue to evolve more deeply and authentically. Through this evolution, we aim to remain a presence that empowers people around the world from diverse backgrounds.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support for XG and XGALX.”
More than a name update, the shift represents a return to origin – from Girls as the beginning to Genes as the source. It signals a group sharpening its identity and moving forward with renewed clarity and creative conviction.
Coinciding with this evolution, XG has unveiled the key visual for their second world tour, “XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE,” kicking off at K-Arena Yokohama on 6 February 2026. Following their first tour in 2024, which drew 400,000 attendees across 47 shows and culminated at Tokyo Dome, the new tour promises an even more immersive dive into the essence of XG.
The tour’s visual concept, rendered in bold calligraphy like their upcoming full album artwork, encapsulates XG’s intense presence, conviction, and global ambition. Fans can expect performances across Japan, Asia, North America, Europe, Australia, Latin America, and beyond.

XG’s first full-length album, “THE CORE – 核,” releasing 23 January 2026, is a bold musical statement that traces the group’s identity across genres and eras. With tracks like “XIGNAL (The Intro)”, “ROCK THE BOAT”, and pre-release single “4 SEASONS”, the album solidifies the new X-POP genre XG is defining and showcases their unflinching artistry.
As XG steps into 2026 with “Xtraordinary Genes” at their core, their music, performances, and global tour signal the opening of a new chapter – one driven by instinct, evolution, and what lies at their core.
