Yeng Constantino, John Prats grateful for fans’ unwavering support despite severe weather

In a post-show interview with the media following the successful Biyaheng Bente concert at Smart Araneta Coliseum, pop-rock icon Yeng Constantino and concert director John Prats expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the thousands of fans who braved severe weather conditions to celebrate Constantino’s 20th anniversary in music.

Despite the inclement weather, the concert pushed through with an immersive production helmed by Prats, featuring striking visuals, seamless audio design, dynamic staging, and multiple wardrobe changes that showcased Constantino’s two-decade musical journey.

One of the night’s most emotional moments happened even before the concert officially began. As “Jeepney Love Story” played during the pre-show, the audience spontaneously sang and danced along, filling the Smart Araneta Coliseum with energy. Watching from backstage, Constantino was moved to tears, while Prats decided to use the crowd’s overwhelming response as the cue to begin the performance.

Prats admitted that directing Biyaheng Bente was a unique challenge because of Constantino’s extensive catalog of hit songs spanning 20 years. He said careful planning was needed to ensure every milestone in her career was represented while keeping the concert’s narrative cohesive.

The concert director also praised Constantino’s hands-on involvement throughout the creative process. According to Prats, their collaboration clicked naturally from the start, allowing them to create a show that genuinely reflected the singer-songwriter’s personality and artistry.

Constantino shared that during their first meeting, she already had a vision for the setlist, visual themes, and color palette, while Prats helped transform those ideas into a full-scale concert production.

Reflecting on their longevity in the entertainment industry, both Constantino and Prats credited hard work, mutual respect for the entire production team, and their unwavering faith in God as the foundation of their careers.

Constantino revealed that after every performance, she kneels in prayer to thank God and stay grounded, while Prats said their biggest goal was to make every fan feel that every peso spent on a ticket was worth it.

The singer also spoke candidly about her mental health journey, sharing her diagnosis of persistent depressive disorder. She said weekly therapy sessions, the support of her family, and her faith continue to help her navigate difficult emotional seasons.

Constantino ended her message by encouraging anyone facing mental health struggles to seek help, lean on their loved ones and community, and continue holding on to hope.

Following its triumphant Manila run, Biyaheng Bente heads to SM Seaside Cebu Arena on September 20, before embarking on a North American tour. The concert will then return to the Philippines for a Laguna show on December 4 as part of the Biyaheng Bente concert tour, presented by Cornerstone Concerts.
