From One Generation to the Next: Regine Velasquez Celebrates Her Family’s Musical Talents at FINALE concert

Last weekend, as Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid marked a defining moment in her illustrious concert career, she also gave the audience a glimpse of the next generation of musical talent in her family. Among the highlights of her sold-out FINALE concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena was the special appearance of her nieces and nephews, celebrating their musical talents and the legacy they are beginning to build.

Regine introduced a brand-new family band called “Meet Me At The Elevator,” featuring her son Nate and the children of her siblings. The group’s charming name came from a familiar family tradition: every Sunday, the family gathers at home for dinner and bingo, after which the kids head downstairs to jam together. When Regine discovered their musical abilities during these casual sessions, she came up with the idea of featuring them onstage.

The name was inspired by the elevator at home, where the cousins would meet before heading down to the studio.
Although the kids practically grew up around Regine’s concerts at the Mall of Asia Arena, listening to her soundchecks and spending time backstage, FINALE marked their first-ever live performance together. To the delight of the crowd, the newly formed band performed “The Easy Kind,” a track from Regine’s latest album, Golden Hours.

Another family highlight was the appearance of DNA, the rising P-pop trio composed of Ezri, Julia, and Tasha Mitra. The three are the daughters of musical director Raul Mitra and Regine’s younger sister, Cacai Velasquez Mitra.

Since their launch in October 2025, DNA have steadily made their mark in the local music scene. The trio scored a summer jingle and campaign “Gala To The Max” for SM Supermalls, released their self-titled debut album in July 2026, and participated in the first Eurovision Asia Philippines selection, where they interpreted “Between Bituin.”

Proudly supporting her nieces, Regine joined the trio for performances of “Urong Sulong” and their single “BINGO.” Their collaboration showcased the musical bond between the generations, and it would be exciting to see DNA put their own P-pop spin on “Urong Sulong” as a fitting tribute to their beloved auntie.

FINALE concdrt became a moment of passing the torch. An icon who has inspired generations of Filipino artists opened the stage to the young talents in her own family, giving them an opportunity to share their music with an audience that has long celebrated hers.

The Velasquez-Alcasid-Mitra clan continues to shape Philippine music, with a legacy that extends beyond one iconic voice. As Regine steps back from large-scale concerts, her influence lives on through the next generation: young artists ready to discover their own sound, create their own stories, and perhaps one day take center stage in their own right.
