Hazel Faith Enters Her Lover Girl Era with Love Song Stories
Hazel Faith Enters Her “Lover Girl Era” with Sophomore Album LSS (Love Song Stories)
For Hazel Faith, love has never been just a theme. It has been a journey—one that took years to understand, experience, and finally translate into song.
With her upcoming sophomore album, LSS (Love Song Stories), the Filipino singer-songwriter opens one of her most personal chapters yet. Describing the album as a collection of “mini-movies playing in your head,” Hazel turns each track into a story that captures the many faces of love: imagined, experienced, lost, rediscovered, and finally understood.
“Every song has a story to tell,” Hazel shares. “At the same time, the songs are made in such a way that you will get major Last Song Syndrome.”
At the heart of Love Song Stories is the song that started it all.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of “Kinikilig,” the track that helped carve Hazel Faith’s place in OPM as a voice of joy, hope, and romantic sincerity. In a music scene often filled with heartbreak anthems, “Kinikilig” stood out for being light, hopeful, and unabashedly in love.
“All the love Kinikilig received throughout the years gave me encouragement that there is a place for my kind of songs,” she reflects.
A decade later, the song returns in a new form as “Kinikilig (Hyper Kilig Ver.),” the title track of Love Song Stories. Brighter, fuller, and more vibrant, the new version serves as both a celebration of the original and a reflection of Hazel’s growth as an artist.

A Story That Took Time
Some songs in Love Song Stories came from Hazel’s imagination. Others, she says, eventually became prophetic.
One of the album’s most emotional moments comes through “Everything Takes Time,” a song that captures Hazel’s personal and artistic journey. During the recording process, the track became almost too real for her.
“I literally cried in the middle of re-recording it,” she recalls. “My life flashed before my eyes… it was not an easy path, and I made a lot of mistakes along the way. But by God’s grace, I still got there.”
The song stands as both a reflection and a reassurance—a reminder that growth, healing, and success do not happen overnight. For Hazel, it is a deeply personal message to anyone learning to trust the timing of their own story.
Full Circle: From Glee to LSS
Another meaningful inclusion in the album is “Can’t Comprehend,” a song Hazel wrote when she was only 18 years old.
More than just an early composition, the track holds a special place in her journey. It was the song that helped her gain recognition during her connection to Glee, becoming an important part of her story as a young artist finding her voice.
Years later, “Can’t Comprehend” finally finds its home in Love Song Stories, completing a full-circle moment in Hazel’s career.
“It was a last-minute idea to add the song… but it just felt right to finally let the world hear it,” she shares.
From Faith to Feeling
As a songwriter, Hazel says this album reflects a braver and more mature version of herself.
“I’ve matured as a songwriter, and at the same time, I’ve grown braver,” she says.
This time, she embraces specificity. Instead of hiding behind vague lyrics, Hazel leans fully into her own experiences, allowing her stories to become more honest, direct, and deeply felt.
“I realized the right people would get it. So I threw caution to the wind. It’s for my people.”
Understanding Love for Real
For Hazel, Love Song Stories is also about learning the difference between fleeting excitement and lasting love.
“I’ve learned to differentiate kilig with love,” she explains. “Kilig is that rush you feel. But it can fade… love, true and lasting love, is a different kind of kilig altogether.”
That realization was shaped by real-life love, especially through her relationship with her husband and collaborator, Caleb Santos. Through that partnership, Hazel discovered a deeper kind of romance—one rooted not only in emotion, but also in commitment, growth, and understanding.
Understanding Love for Real
Each track in LSS plays like a chapter in Hazel’s evolving relationship with love.
“Tamang Kilig” serves as one of the album’s defining centerpieces, while “Ngiti Ng Buwan” captures the warmth and wonder of being in love. “Cupcake” brings a playful and bold energy, even introducing an unexpected rap-driven side of Hazel. Meanwhile, “Everything Takes Time” becomes the album’s emotional anchor, grounding the project in reflection and vulnerability.
Together, these songs map out the full spectrum of love—from dreaming about it, to experiencing it, to finally understanding what it truly means.
Understanding Love for Real
“This is my lover girl era,” Hazel says.
It is an era defined not by perfection, but by honesty. By choosing joy. By believing in love even after uncertainty, mistakes, and waiting.
With LSS (Love Song Stories), Hazel Faith invites listeners into a world where love is not just a feeling, but a story worth telling again and again.
And if there is one thing she hopes listeners take away from the album, her answer is simple:
“Happiness.”
