Miguel Mendoza Turns Heartbreak Into Healing With His Own ‘Isa Pang Araw’

Singer-songwriter Miguel Mendoza is finally stepping back into his own spotlight. Widely known in the industry for penning Sarah Geronimo’s massive hit “Isa Pang Araw,” Mendoza has officially released his own highly anticipated rendition of the emotional track under FlipMusic.

The launch was celebrated with an intimate press conference held at the Shutter Chinois Deli in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. It was an afternoon filled with nostalgia, music, and an outpouring of support as Mendoza was joined by his family and some of his closest friends in the industry, including Bugoy Drilon, members of P-pop group VVINK, and Pow Chavez.

For Mendoza, the journey back to the microphone was anything but linear. During his time away from the public eye, he embraced the unglamorous realities of life and the entertainment industry. “I learned that I can do a lot more than just being front-facing and being on stage,” he shared. When television appearances slowed down, he found himself pivoting to roles behind the scenes: directing events, working as a teleprompter reader, and even spending time as an OFW and a mascot.

Through his changing career landscape, songwriting remained his anchor. He credits the tight-knit FlipMusic community, including heavyweights like Nica Del Rosario, Bojam, and Pow Chavez, for keeping his creative fire alive. Still, the fear of stepping back out as a solo singer lingered. “Before I enjoyed songwriting, I was a singer first,” Mendoza confessed. “It went on for years doubting myself, questioning my talent. You just have to fight through it and believe in yourself.”

His rendition of “Isa Pang Araw” is a testament to that hard fought self-belief, bringing a completely different emotional weight to the beloved track. While the original was written as he navigated the grief of his father’s passing, Mendoza admits he didn’t fully process those feelings at the time. “I kept it in for nine years,” he revealed. Recording this new version finally allowed him to be vulnerable, turning his studio time into an emotional release. “My recording session was just me crying… it felt so good to finally let it out.”

When asked what his late father would say if he could see him today, Mendoza smiled. “He wouldn’t say much, but you would feel his support. I think he would just say, ‘I’m proud of you, anak.'”

With the backing of Flip Music and his newfound courage to reclaim his voice, Miguel Mendoza proves that no matter how long you spend behind the scenes, a true artist will always find their way back to the music. And as he tackles new projects including co-writing a book, Mendoza is no longer hiding behind the lyrics. He is finally singing. He is ready for whatever comes next chapter.
