Chicosci to Mark 20 Years of Landmark Album With Anniversary Show, Vinyl Release

Influential Filipino rock band Chicosci is set to mark the 20th anniversary of its self-titled album with a live show on June 6, alongside the record’s first official vinyl release.
Titled A Toast to All Our Crimes, the anniversary show will center on the band’s 2006 release. A seminal project widely seen as a turning point in both Chicosci’s career and the broader local rock landscape during a period of transition for original Pilipino music. Composed of vocalist Miggy Chavez, guitarist Mong Alcaraz, bassist Eco del Rio and drummer Victor Guison, the band is set to unleash this exciting show to commemorate one of their most iconic records.

Released at a time when the scene was shifting between acoustic pop, “pogi rock,” and the fading wave of early nu metal, the album introduced a tighter, more aggressive sound that expanded the band’s reach. Its tracks became staples of packed live performances across the country, helping cement Chicosci’s crossover appeal.

“This album was a test for the band,” said Mong. “In 2006, it was a strange time in OPM. For the first time, we decided to do everything ourselves — writing, recording, production, marketing, packaging, and distribution. It was our first step as an independent band, and we’ve remained that band since.”

For the upcoming show, the band will perform the album in full, revisiting the material that defined its mid-2000s run while reintroducing it to a new live audience.
“We’ll be playing the White Album in its entirety, along with a few more songs,” shares Miggy. “We’ve been rehearsing a lot for this show, and we’re excited for people to experience it — even our soundcheck, if they’re into that.”

The anniversary also coincides with the album’s long-awaited vinyl release, answering years of demand from longtime listeners and offering a new entry point for younger audiences discovering the band’s catalog.
“I think it’s important for us to celebrate this album because it resonated with so many people,” Chavez said. “It means a lot to us, and it’s mind-blowing that it continues to mean a lot to others as well.”

Two decades on, Chicosci’s influence remains evident in a new wave of local acts that draw from the same blend of melody and weight. The anniversary show serves as both a reflection on the past and a test of the album’s enduring relevance.
“The album was a massive turning point for the band,” Chavez added. “Celebrating it 20 years later is a testament to how far we’ve come — and we couldn’t have done it without everyone who’s been with us along the way.”

A Toast to All Our Crimes: 20 Years of the Chicosci Album takes place on June 6 at Soundcheck Inc. in Pasig, with Kamikazee joining the lineup. Tickets are available at https://bit.ly/CHICOSCI20years.
