RIEHATA and SB19 to Headline Philippines-Japan Friendship Dance Showcase

The year 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines—a vibrant celebration of seven decades of enduring friendship. As part of this milestone, the Japan Foundation (JF) is honored to welcome globally renowned Filipino-Japanese choreographer and dancer RIEHATA to launch a potential three-year program in the Philippines. This initiative aims to foster dynamic exchanges and meaningful collaborations through the art of dance, celebrating cultural diversity while strengthening connections among young dancers from the Philippines, Japan, and beyond.

To kick off this exciting project, JF proudly presents Stella Dance Jam (SDJ): Philippines × Japan Friendship 2026, taking place on June 20–21 at The Theatre at Solaire. The showcase brings together outstanding collaborations between Japanese and Filipino professional and emerging dancers, creating an electrifying fusion of talent, creativity, and cultural expression.

One of the most anticipated highlights is a special performance collaboration between RIEHATA and internationally acclaimed Filipino Kings of Pop, SB19. The lineup will also feature performances by RHT Family, a dance collective trained by RIEHATA, as well as 1Z’s newest artists, XONARA and J2X.

Adding to the excitement, 33 young dancers selected by RIEHATA through auditions held in Japan and the Philippines (Davao and Manila) will take the stage as part of the showcase—13 dancers from Japan and 20 dancers from the Philippines. Bringing together the next generation of “Stellas,” these rising stars from across borders will have the rare opportunity to perform alongside world-class talents. The project aims to inspire their artistic growth, ignite their passion for dance, and help shape the future of the art form through international collaboration and cultural exchange.
